How to Become a SLT AYSO Referee
Step 1- Register as an AYSO Volunteer
All referees must register as a volunteer annually. Youth volunteers (ages 10-17) will need a parent or guardian to complete the online volunteer process for them. Register online as a volunteer with AYSO at www.ayso282.org follow the links and fill out the volunteer registration form and background check.
Step 2 – Complete Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Stewards of the Game online courses.
All new referees must complete
· AYSO’s Safe Haven (Course MT02), 30 minutes
· Concussion Awareness (AYSO Heads Up Concussion Training). 15 minutes
· Sudden Cardiac Arrest Course, 20 minutes
· Stewards of the Game, 20 minutes

Step 3- Complete the Regional Referee Course, 2 hours online, 3 hours in classroom.
Part 1: In AYSOU.org go to Online Courses, Referring Courses, Regional Referee Training. Complete all chapters. Take the final exam, download and print your Certificate or Completion.
Part 2: Register for the classroom Regional Referee Companion Course. In AYSOu.org go to In Person Courses, Referee Instructor Led Courses, Regional Referee Online Companion Course, Sessions. Select Register for the course you want to take. Make sure you register for area 282 in South Lake Tahoe. Bring your Certificate of Completion from the part 1 and your Safe Heaven Certificates.
